I’m not an expert at anything and that’s okay

Floppy hat in the mountains

Disclaimer: I am not a fashion blogger. I bought that hat at Walmart for $7, which disqualifies me even if I was trying. My husband snapped a few awesome photos of me up in the Canyon this weekend, which was pretty fun. I also tried out using Lightroom for the first time to edit them, and discovered what a “preset” is and it was awesome. I downloaded some for free from this site. However, it took me like fifty times as long to edit photos this time because I didn’t know how to use the program. But these two were my favorite!

So, when I started this blog, I had the idea to try to get involved in the “blogging” community. (Translation: find a few souls out there that might find my content interesting.) And thanks to Pinterest, there are approximately 29234235923059 websites that teach you how to “get traffic” on your blog. The big theme? Be an expert on something and teach people via blog posts.

The only problem with that is I don’t count myself as being an expert on anything, really. There are other people that are more qualified and have degrees/authority in the areas that I find amusing. I feel like I’m learning about a ton of different things, but I’m not an expert at anything. And some of the things I am “unearthing and discovering” are documented here on my blog.

But the thing is, that’s okay. As I have been studying anthropology at university, I have come to understand that each person’s experience and point of view and thoughts are totally valid. It doesn’t matter if there are statistics or studies to back up their beliefs, or if they represent the majority of the population, or anything, really.

Individuals are important, period.

That doesn’t mean that we have to try really hard to be an individual and be different from everyone else. We can be beautiful in our same-ness – or our pushing against the grain, for that matter. Whatever it is that we experience is worth sharing and is interesting and worthwhile and meaningful because it came from a somebody. So to you out there, who feels like you aren’t the best or the fastest or the strongest: That’s awesome! Because you are you and that’s what matters and what is important. So share that. And if you are redefining yourself, discovering, unearthing, finding, or maybe reinventing, then all the better. Because you are important.

I LOVE this! I also read similar articles prior to redesigning my blog. But I have also realized I don’t have a real “theme” or something to teach people… I just want somewhere to share my journey.

I’m glad that someone has had the same experience as me and just carried on anyways. I was kind of intimidated but oh well, right? I think the journey is important and insightful, and sharing that can lift or help or inspire or perhaps just entertain 🙂

I was just told about the apparent “blogging rules and regulations” for “success” available on pinterest, not interested in looking that up. I’m totally ok with doing it in whatever fashion makes me happy. If I’m happy others will be too. I’m not selling anything, just living life and sharing my joy. Blog what you love, you will find a following of like minded people.
Thanks for dropping by my blog.
